An in vitro lung biomimetic model

Design and fabrication of a system to both mimic the multicellular composition of the lung and its vascular network, as well as the composition and structure of extracellular matrix (ECM). Different tissue engineering approaches have been used in order to obtain structures composed by biomaterials that recapitulate structural, chemical, physical and biological properties of basement alveolar membrane and 3D-structure of connective tissue layer of alveolar wall. This system will be included in a microfluidic device where the microenvironment of tumour growth will be reproduced.
